Dum spiro spero

Dum spiro spero, a Latin motto that is often attributed to Cicero. The motto means “While I breathe, I hope.”

I cannot remember when or why or how I came across this term, but I did. I have considered it as one of my possible designs for the tattoo that I will be getting this year (hopefully).

Almost every single day of my life, I come very close to crossing the wire of giving up. But, like what most people say, there is that fine line between giving up and letting go, and hanging on. The motto above may not literally tattooed on my body, but it is one that I have chosen to live by for several years now, and it is tattooed in my brain.

“While I breathe, I hope.”

I know it is not that hard to comprehend the saying, but it does make sense, doesn’t it. Nothing should make us lose hope because as long as we live to see another day, there is always hope to find answers, solutions, and help whenever we need it the most.

When Pandora’s box was opened and all the ills and evils of the world came out, there was that one thing that made things a bit better, Hope.* A glimmer of hope is something to hold on to than nothing at all.

In closing, I would like to share this nice video to the rest of the world, especially those who are in the brink of losing hope.

We will never break, though they devastate, we shall motivate,

And we gotta pray, all we got is faith.

*Note: There are various versions of Pandora’s story, but I chose the one with Hope being freed in the end.

**This is a late response to yesterday’s DailyPost question.**
